Appointments System

We have recently changed how we offer appointments.  However we would like to assure you that we are open and accessible, just in a different way!

We offer a mix of same day/urgent appointments and pre-bookable appointments for non-urgent matters.

Same Day/Urgent appointments

Such appointments MUST be requested between 8.30am - 9.30am each day.

These are limited and only available for urgent matters

It is important to note once we have reached a safe working capacity any further requests will only be taken in the event of a medical emergency that will not wait to the following day.  Requests of this nature will be a telephone request only and the GP will triage each call accordingly.

Prebookable appointments

These can be requested as telephone calls or face to face and will be opened daily for the following week.  Requests for these appointments must be made after 10am daily.

The GP's require our receptionists  to take a brief description of the reason for your request in confidence.  Failure to give a brief description to the receptionist may lead to a delay in treatment.

We ask that you respect our reception staff and the whole practice team.  Any abuse of our staff will not be tolerated and could result in you being removed from the practice list.

We will review the appointment system on a regular basis and will update the website with any new information.

Waiting Times

Surgeries will normally start on time.

We expect patients to be seen within twenty minutes of their appointment time, and in the event of delay we will offer an explanation. When a doctor is called away on an emergency we will inform the patients and give them an opportunity to book an alternative appointment, or if preferred, to wait or be seen by another doctor.

If you are unable to accept the call from the GP, your phone is engaged or unobtainable in the allocated time period given by the receptionist the GP may try you one more time however this is dependent on the GP's list daily and there may not be time to retry.

It is your responsiblity to keep your telephone free and any failure to take the call will result in a 'Did Not Attend' note in your record.

Treatment Room - Appointments ONLY

We operate an Appointment ONLY treatment room.

Appointments for routine bloods, dressings etc will be made by the receptionist on request.  The GP may also book you for investigations if the need arises.

This will be reviewed regularly.

Home Visits

Patients and/or carers MUST contact the surgery before 11:00am, this should enable the doctor to visit before the afternoon surgery. Should any emergency occur during lunch time, 12:30 - 14:00, please phone 02890 610611.

Minor Ailments Scheme

Patients should contact their local pharmacy to avail of the Minor Ailments Scheme. Details of this service are available from all pharmacies and if you are unsure you can ask the receptionists for treatments available.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment; this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. Failure to notifty the Practice that you are unable to attend will result in a 'Did Not Attend' notice being placed on your record and this may be reviewed at any time by the GPs and management and result in a warning letter being sent to you.  Persistent defaulters may be removed from the list.
